FIRST THINGS FIRST

Whilst the break of daylight came up over surfers taking their first waves and joggers were enjoying their morning regime, the letters THE ICONIC stood in their shadows on Bondi Beach. Sydney was getting ready for the day as this city continues to lead as the chosen location for yet another debut fashion event for 2016 with the online store THE ICONIC selecting Bondi Beach as the perfect platform for its 2017 Swimwear Collection Fashion show.   Officially this is also the first time Australia’s iconic Bondi Beach has been used as a catwalk thanks to the approval and support of Waverley Council.  Furthermore this event can also lay claim to the first ever runway show to be filmed by a drone within Australia.

With 3 months in planning and over 50 ground staff, various teams and models scurried back and forth from Bondi Pavilion to the beach focused on their various tasks.  Arriving guests and onlookers admired models with their gorgeous loose braids and textured beach hair created by John Frieda Australia and Hair Cartel.  Glamazon makeup artists added final touches to the faces of shimmery gold.  The team of Miro Door volunteers assisted wherever they could and worked efficiently with stylists, their assigned models and other backstage teams.  L’Aperture coffee and coconut waters were keeping the fashion pack hydrated and caffeinated to the tunes of Alice Q.  Ksenija Lukich hosted the show and brand ambassador Nick Cummins otherwise known as The Honey Badger delighted guests with his warm and approachable demeanour.

As the music started, guests took their seats and a drone rapidly flew up and hovered over the crowd as the show begun. The 2017 swimwear collection featured many brands including Suboo, Seafolly, Atmos and Here, Heidi Klum Swim, Romance was Born, Tigerlily, Academy Brand, Nookie Beach, Pool Club, Camilla, Lioness and Bec & Bridge amongst many. There were patterned back one pieces, scalloped edge bikinis and striped off the shoulder bandeaus. Tassels adorned necks and waists as other accessories included drop earrings, long drop necklaces, raffia beach bags, metallic slides and low heeled espadrilles. Male models glided the sandy walkway with floral shorts from Deus Ex Machina and swim shorts by the brand The Rocks Push.  High waisted pants and an exquisite Manning Cartell backless military jacket also featured. As the show came to an end, the drone made its final loop around the audience who were applauding the finale of THE ICONIC 2017 Swimwear Collection show.
